Water heaters can be fitted with expansion tanks to capture expanded water and prevent water heater malfunction. Sizing water heater expansion tanks is easy for your hot water heater, and adding a hot water expansion tank can be done within 30 minutes.
A rough-in plumbing diagram is a sketch for all the plumbing pipes, pipe fittings, drains and vent piping. This plumbing diagram might be required for a building permit. This isometric diagram will help determine if all your plumbing meets code.
Vent pipes are needed to supply air to water pipes. Without proper air replacement, your drain lines could create a vacuum in the plumbing system. Be sure local regulations allow anyone other then licensed plumbers to do work on your plumbing vent piping.
Pipe sizes and pipe thicknesses have a hand in the water flow rate and noisiness of your home. Your plumber or builder can do things while building to prevent plumbing problems in the future. The main water pipe into the house should be at least 3/4 to an inch big.
Sewer gas and its smell is obnoxious. The heath risks of sewer gas are significant if you breathe it for an extended amount of time. The best plan is to locate the break in the pipe or pipes and stop the sewer gas in the house.
