We pick people up and then we lose them. It's pretty amazing. Today I'm going to talk a little bit about what happened today, where I was

I just got home about a half an hour ago. Been gone all day

I know. How cool is that? Designing flipping bridges. I'll tell you a bridge story here really quickly

Excuse me, before we get into inspection checklist for homes. This would have been, oh, my gosh

I would almost say it's 30 years ago. It could have been 32 years ago

I was living back in Cincinnati. Our next-door neighbors, a family. I'm not going to say anything more about them

But the oldest child in the family was a girl And she went to the same private school my wife went to and my two daughters went to

And I guess she was taking a physical class, and one of the assignments was they were given an assignment to build a bridge

All they could use was white glue. Maybe they could use carpenter's glue, I can't remember, and one box of toothpicks

So she knew I was a builder. She knew I built the house. So she came over and knocked on the door

She was a nice young woman. And she said, I've got this assignment. I was wondering if you could help me

And she told me, and I said, sure. And it just so happened, I was doing a job on the eastern side of Cincinnati

And I was driving back and forth each day on what we call Kellogg Avenue

It's the main road, the US 52, that runs right along the river

And I was driving each day right by the giant huge. interstate bridge that crosses the river. And of course, it's designed, you know, is a big

trust bridge, you know, with a, it's like squares, but then with a diagonal in it. And

and I just thought, eh, that's something you can handle. So I drew it up for, she built it

and she got an A on the project Then another quick story is my son had a similar project in high school but he was taking a welding class and the same exact thing But their specs were a little bit bigger

tougher. And so I just took a photograph and showed him. Actually, I built one out of wood that he

could copy. It took me about an hour. But I just built a bar joist, all right? And Josh would know

exactly what I'm talking about. So there are bridges that are just like this. And he

he, he got an A plus on the project because they, they would test the bridges by stacking

weights on it. And they put all the weight that they had on his bridge. And it, it didn't fail

I mean, and then even they had put two kids on, I don't know, they put it hundreds and hundreds and

hundreds of pounds, and it didn't fail. And I don't think he saved it. I can't believe he didn't

save that bridge. All right. So Josh knows all about this. If you haven't checked in yet
