It's another day. This is video four in
0:03
the series and I want to talk about a
0:05
bunch of little things before we start
0:07
putting tile in. It's all very important
0:09
for your job. First thing is protecting
0:12
surfaces. Look down here. So, we had a
0:14
bunch I saved all the boxes that the uh
0:17
luxury vinyl plank came in on purpose
0:19
cuz I wanted to be able to flatten them
0:21
out and use them to protect the floor.
0:24
You don't want to be working on drop
0:26
cloths because we're going to be using
0:27
thin set or even if you use mastic. If
0:30
that stuff gets on a drop cloth, it just
0:31
messes it up. So, I find that cardboard
0:33
is easier. You may use something else.
0:36
If you do, let us know in the comments
0:38
or record your own video. I also
0:42
took the time to put down a moving
0:44
blanket over the um existing shower. You
0:47
know, you don't want to drop anything on
0:49
that. You don't want to chip the
0:50
acrylic. So, it's all about protecting
0:52
all the surfaces. Next,
0:55
we're going to have a wall hung toilet
0:57
on this job. All right. So, it's really
1:00
critical. So, I took the toilet itself
1:02
and made this template. I tra I laid it
1:05
down the back of the toilet, traced it,
1:07
and cuz you need to create the lines
1:10
here
1:11
so you know where to stop the ceramic
1:13
tile. So, you'll see as we do this, it's
1:16
not so important to get tile here, but
1:18
it's very important to have tile here,
1:20
here, and this pipe is really close to
1:23
the top of the toilet. We we did a
1:26
measurement from this line down to the
1:27
top of the pipe is 3/4 of an inch. I'm
1:30
going to hold the tile down a/ inch and
1:32
we'll be okay. So, that's really
1:34
important. Another thing, here's the
1:36
control box that
1:39
activates the toilet, you know, when you
1:41
flush it. And it comes with this really
1:44
neat plaster guard, but it's very
1:46
flexible. And this acts as a great guide
1:50
as to where to stop the tile. But if I
1:52
have the tile and it bends down, that's
1:54
not going to be good. All right. So, we
1:56
cut this piece of wood to keep make that
1:59
stiff. It's the exact same inner
2:00
dimension as here. So, now this is
2:02
stiff. I'll be able to set the tile on
2:05
top of here and everything's going to
2:07
work out just fine. So, those are the
2:08
things I wanted to cover. All this kind
2:11
of stuff you need to be thinking about
2:12
before you even start to mix up the thin
2:15
set or pop the lid on the mastic.
