Good afternoon. I'm Tim Carter
0:06
And it's Wednesday afternoon, May 11th, 2022. And beautiful spring day here in central New Hampshire
0:18
I was outside a lot, making great progress on decluttering the garage
0:24
I would say by Friday afternoon, the whole lower garage can be in pretty good shape
0:30
took the motorcycle out, exercised it today. It had been the first time it was exercised since last fall
0:40
And just what a wonderful motorcycle. It's a Honda Shadow 600cc. If you don't know anything about motorcycles
0:50
it looks just like a Harley Sportster, sounds like one. You know, it's got that V engine
0:58
and it's my daughter's bike. It's not mine, but she wants me to ride it. So I do
1:08
And if you have any questions at all today, put them in the chat. Happy to help you
1:13
Hello, Lorene. We're going to be talking about these bad boys in just a few minutes
1:18
I want to tell you all about Keen Shoes. I've been a Keen wearer for, gosh, let's see
1:28
17, 16, at least six years, maybe seven. Could be seven, no more than seven
1:37
I did their factory tour in 2017 in Portland, Oregon. That was a blistering hot day
1:46
They had a really freak kind of hot spell, 105 degrees for two days in a row
1:51
It was horrible. And got to see how shoes were made, kind of interesting
1:56
That video is on my channel. If you want to go open up another tab and watch that video, pretty interesting
2:02
And I got to help make the shoes. They let all of us kind of do one or two steps
2:08
And very interesting. Very interesting process. Hi, Steve. Minnesota. I've been to Minnesota just a couple of times
2:19
I went there on an editor's tour for Honeywell. and uh i remember we had some kind of party i think the first night or the second night
2:27
i think the second night on a boat out on one of your beautiful lakes you've got a lot of lakes
2:34
like well you have probably more lakes in new hampshire but you've got some beautiful lakes
2:38
hello hello vanessa glad you're here if you have any questions all about your house uh you know
2:44
what to do uh you're you're regulars you're you're out here and um um just ask anything you
2:50
want. It doesn't matter. Happy to help you no matter what it is. We don't have to talk about
2:54
shoes, but we'll talk about shoes right now. So this, these are some nice new, these are going
3:00
to be perfect for summertime. These are some keen, they're called the Sparta 2 and very lightweight
3:10
extremely lightweight. It's quite unlike the shoe that I have on now. I have a shoe on now that's
3:16
almost like this, but it seems like it's at least a half a pound heavier and beautiful sole on these
3:24
very, you know, really, really great for some day hiking. You know, the only problem is, is I'm a guy
3:31
that needs a higher, you know, like a mid height shoe for hiking. I need that ankle support, but I
3:39
already know I have a pair of these kind of in a different color, different style, and I've been
3:47
wearing them since 2017, and they look brand new. And one of the things about Keen shoes
3:56
I'll tell you about my Keen boots in a minute. They have, I forget, I'm going to say asymmetrical
4:01
So I think they were one of the first companies to do, the reason they're so comfortable is because
4:06
they actually have a left and a right shape for the toe, just like your feet are, meaning
4:10
your big toe is longer, you know, here. But most shoes are, you know, they're just the same shape here
4:19
So as the curve comes around, you know, your big toe gets jammed. Well, that's not the way it is in Keens
4:24
So Keens are bigger here where it's supposed to be bigger where your big toe is
4:29
And it's the same thing on the other shoe. So very, very, very interesting concept
4:34
I don't know that they were the first to do it, but I can tell you what makes a huge difference for me, at least
4:44
I had a pair. I still have them. I use them for my roughest work
4:48
I have a pair of Keen. They were beautiful boots. These are blue
4:54
I had these red ones, red and gray. And I used them to help build my daughter's home
5:01
and I had two pair of Kings. I switched back and forth, especially early on the job
5:07
where we just got soaking wet every day. So I had to have two pair of boots so that
5:13
one pair could dry out the second day. So every other day I was wearing the same pair of boots
5:20
And this red pair, I don't want to say I wore it out, but they were heavily broken in
5:25
they were so abused on this job i mean like crazy abused and they look at um they're still
5:33
they're still wearable uh they're still waterproof uh but they look worse for wear i should have i
5:39
should have probably brought them up for the live stream to show you uh that that would have been
5:42
interesting to see those i'll bring them up another day and they just all i can tell you is
5:49
i've had a really great experience with this line of boots i i can't say this for any other
5:54
shoe that I've worn my entire life. That's what's so amazing. That's why I wanted to share
6:00
this with you because, you know, I've had good luck with some shoes
6:07
The crappy ones fall apart. These have never fallen apart. I've not had one pair. Let's see
6:12
how many have I had? One, two, three, four, five. I think this is my sixth pair. And never one has
6:20
fallen apart. So I, and I've, and like I said, the ones that I used helping build my daughter's
6:26
home, if anything should have fallen apart, it should have been those. Now, if you go out and
6:31
wear a pair of these hiking the Arizona trail, especially the Southern section where it's very
6:37
rugged, very sharp angular rocks on the trail, you know, you might wear one, a pair out after
6:44
hiking a hundred miles or so, you know, but that's, you're putting those kind of boots under
6:48
extreme wear conditions. You know, I don't think it's fair to judge a boot in that kind of situation
6:54
unless you get a bunch of them, you know, and wear a bunch of them. But for overall comfort
7:01
overall wearability, durability, I haven't been able to beat Keen, I can tell you that
7:09
Let's see, let me get caught up. Hello, Vanessa, let's see. Getting ready to mix concrete this
7:13
weekend. Okay, to finish floor patio. Okay, good. It's kind of a... It would seem like
7:21
it a really good weekend to do concrete work In my opinion it would have been better to do it two weeks ago The best conditions to pour concrete outside 55 degrees overcast calm no threat of rain
7:38
You know, maybe the temperature drops to 45 at night. So 55 to 60 degrees overcast is the primo weather for concrete
7:50
You know, when you get into 80, 85, sunny, breezy, it's the worst time, absolute worst time
7:55
The water leaves the concrete too quickly. It evaporates. It can get away from you
7:59
There's all kinds of bad things that can happen. And then if you start to sprinkle water on the concrete, then it's over
8:04
You're not supposed to ever put water on concrete while you finish it. All right
8:09
Yep. Ankle support. Elaine. Keen. Oh, hey, Elaine. How are you doing
8:15
There you go. I've not tried Ariat. Hmm. Interesting. Yeah, they do
8:21
I mean, what I like about these, they're very lightweight. You know, and this is this fabric here on the side
8:28
Yeah, you can see the holes. It's kind of a breathable fabric
8:32
Same thing on the top there. I think that they're going to be very comfortable in warm weather
8:39
So very, very interesting. And they're blue, my favorite color. You know, so it's got blue on the side
8:46
And there's their logo. If I could hold it up right. You know, so it's a good, it's really a good shoe
8:58
Good shoe. We'll see how it does. I already know it's going to be great
9:02
Just so. All right. When it gets hot enough, though, I'm the sandal guy
9:09
I like my feet to be as open as possible. Vanessa, we got well pumped in and working
9:15
Oh, wonderful. Good for you. That's fantastic. That's fantastic. All right. here's some new news. So here's some news. I've been working on this for months and months and
9:27
months. And Steve from London was the one who brought it to my attention. For maybe the past
9:34
year, YouTube has been testing with certain channels a feature where, you know, you hear me
9:44
on here say, well, if I helped you buy me an ice cream cone, blah, blah, blah. That feature is now
9:49
a part of every one of my videos. If you go to look up any of my videos on YouTube, you'll see
9:56
now at the bottom, there are all these, like, I don't know, options, text links. And one of them
10:03
says thanks with a heart next to it. Well, if you click that, you have the ability to give me a tip
10:10
you know, if I've saved you time and money. And I'm going to make a video about this probably
10:17
this weekend to let my subscribers know that if they start doing that, if they do it, the
10:24
revenue that I'm going to get from that, I'm just going to plow it right back into the YouTube channel
10:28
The first thing I'm going to do is I currently, this may sound crazy to you
10:35
Let me show it to you. You're not going to believe this
10:43
All right. I know you're not going to believe this. um i've recorded probably for the past eight nine years every single video on my youtube channel not
10:54
the live streams has been recorded with this i'm not kidding this canon s95 all right it's an
11:03
this thing it was such an amazing care still works great it's uh it's high definition 720
11:11
and for here's why it's so good one in retrospect most people now are watching their videos on their phones so this delivers more than enough
11:25
quality for people who are watching on their phones and i think that i think everybody can
11:30
agree that's the trend moving out into the future but i want to buy a 4k hd camera
11:36
that has the ability to take my wireless Sennheiser microphone. And also it has a flip screen so that if I'm recording by myself
11:47
I can rotate the screen around and make sure that I'm framed properly
11:53
Here, when I use this thing and I don't have any help, I've got to take a couple of takes to get it all right
11:59
It's crazy. So I'm going to buy a new camera. um so um so anyway if you see that thanks thing try it try it out see what you think of it
12:11
at least click it see what happens and i i think you'll i think you'll be amazed
12:15
all right william how is the best way to apply stain or water sealant to a wood porch
12:22
well it depends on the type of wood uh depends on there's probably four different factors
12:30
I would be tempted to use a roller but the trouble with rollers is that they'll leave lap marks
12:39
and sometimes they'll leave bubbles so you have to back brush if you're going to do that you really should have a helper
12:48
and somebody should be applying the person with a roller can go much faster
12:52
usually than the person with a brush and you just have to work as a team
12:58
so the person with the roller doesn't get ahead of you. And here's the key thing about working with stain and wood
13:07
It's just like I talked about with the concrete. Do not, the worst time to apply stain on a wood surface
13:14
would be the middle of the day. I mean, like at high noon, like today
13:19
like a day like I had here in Sinton, New Hampshire. There's not a cloud in the sky. The sun is brilliant as can be
13:25
it's cooking you it's cooking the wood horrible that's the worst time same thing you want to do
13:34
it on an overcast day or you want to do it uh preferably you would want to do it as early as
13:40
possible in the morning while it's cool and before the sun has gotten on the deck and you you won't
13:46
have any trouble getting the stain the stain won't get away from you all right and uh then as the sun
13:52
comes up on it, it's okay. But to apply the stain on hot wood at noon, like between 11 and 2 in the
14:03
afternoon, it's crazy. It's crazy. Do not do that. Treated lumber. Okay. Not a problem. I mean, it's
14:09
going to be fine. Hopefully you've cleaned it. You've got to clean it really well if you want
14:13
to get the best results. Stain solver. I sell a really great cleaner. Do a great job of cleaning
14:20
treated wood, make it look brand new. It won't bleach the wood. What else did I want to tell you
14:27
The key thing is, William, make sure you, I Jack, make sure you take the time, it only takes three
14:36
or four minutes, and read the instructions on the label of the stain can, all right? And one of the
14:44
things I would do, even though, you know, make sure if you're using more than a gallon, make sure
14:50
that the batches are the same that you have it may say the same color but it might not be the same batch I always would mix them I have an empty clean five bucket I pour both gallons into the five box that stir it up so that I have the same color
15:07
So I can't state how important that is. I've seen quite a few photos of people who have got a two-tone deck
15:17
All right. It's like, William, it's so simple you can't believe it
15:21
But read the instructions on the label. So some sealants, for example, some sealants want you to put on two coats, but they should be thin
15:32
And they have to be some, not all, some, they have to be applied within so many minutes of each other
15:40
Meaning if you apply the first coat and then you, let's say it says wait no longer than an hour
15:45
If you wait an hour and a half, then the second coat will not soak in
15:53
And here's another thing I'll help you with. A lot of people think more sealers better
15:57
That's not the case. Do not put it on heavy thinking you're doing yourself a favor
16:02
You're doing a nightmare. And hopefully, hopefully, you're going to use the stain that I tested and that I used on my dock that's now into its third year
16:13
Hopefully, you're going to get the right product. So I sell that report in my shopping cart
16:17
so if you go to shop.askthebuilder.com you'll find just type into the search engine a deck sealer
16:25
and bingo then you'll know exactly where do you see the before and after photos
16:28
all right uh any other questions about anything about your home happy to answer them um
16:35
happy to answer them i uh what else did i want to tell you what what um uh oh um i told you about
16:42
the super thanks that's really good on the videos we'll see how it does um could be it could be a
16:48
very interesting revenue producer and uh like i said i want to reinvest all that money back into
16:55
the channel and um new equipment better equipment then start to maybe shoot more videos uh so it's um
17:05
that that would be kind of cool because there's some videos for some videos i really want to do
17:10
just haven't done them yet. And some of them know I'm going to need a videographer
17:16
My son-in-law helped me about 10, 11 years ago, even longer. He was a fantastic videographer. Oh
17:22
my gosh. He was so good. He got it. He understood everything about it. He helped my daughter make
17:28
a bunch of videos. Really, really good videographer. Wow. I miss working with him
17:35
And what else did I want to tell you? There was something else
17:39
All kinds of stuff in the news that's happening. Very interesting stuff in the news
17:45
If you're not paying attention, you should be. So look and see what's happening
17:51
It's some things were really upside down. I'll tell you that. It's crazy
18:00
And if you have any questions, I'm only stumbling around because I'm looking out the window at these two squirrels
18:08
I don't know if they're brother and sister. I don't know if they're best buddies, but they play with each other
18:14
I mean, they're crazy. They have – you just wouldn't think that animals would play, but they do
18:19
They're just like little kids, you know, goofing around. Okay, thanks very much, Lorraine
18:26
I appreciate that. Let's see. What else did I want to tell you
18:32
If there's some other kind of news. I'm getting ready. Oh, here's something that I got
18:39
I just got from... I've never really... I don't think I've talked about them before
18:43
but I'm going to do a live stream, but it might be Saturday. This is a really interesting story
18:52
It's true. This is probably... I'm trying to think how long ago it was
18:57
It might have been... It's between 25 and 20 years ago. That I know for a fact
19:05
I used to go to all the shows I'll never forget my first Builder Show. I was like a fish out of water. I was so intimidated
19:16
Then I started going to the hardware show, which for years was in Chicago
19:24
and and it was and and and this was i would say in the golden days of the hardware show
19:30
because home depot and lowe's had not yet really put everybody out of business
19:37
and in the hardware show was just unbelievable huge show huge show i quickly discovered that
19:48
all the new products, all the really good, cool new stuff was down in the basement because
19:55
that's where the small booths were. It was real cramped. I'm sure the booth space was
20:02
much more affordable. The new little startup companies, they don't have a lot of money
20:07
And I would just kind of cruise the aisles walking down. And I walked down this one aisle
20:12
and I actually kind of walked past the booth because I was walking pretty fast and it registered
20:18
in my head like, wait a minute, what did I just see? And I turned around, backed up. There was
20:25
just the inventor was there. No one else was there. You know, these poor people down in this part of
20:31
the show, they get like, I mean, they get traffic, but it's not like upstairs. And here, lo and behold
20:38
is this metal pegboard. And it had all the regular holes in it, like the Masonite pegboard
20:45
but it had something else. It had these slots that are like one inch thick by maybe two millimeters
20:52
wide, you know, not, not very wide. And, uh, I started talking with a guy, the inventor and
20:57
and he showed it to me and he had devised a system that when you, you know, if you've ever
21:03
used old traditional Masonite, you'll know that the hooks and stuff, they pull out. I mean, they
21:09
you know, they've got those little clips on and they've tried all types of things and then they wear out. Then the holes get bigger. And then, you know, you pull the tool off the
21:17
wall. So the hook comes with it. Well, with this system doesn't happen. The hook's staying on the
21:21
wall and you can move them around. But the cool thing was this guy was smart. He designed it so
21:28
that if you want to use your old round hooks, you know, from your Masonite, you could do it. You
21:34
could switch over. And so I featured this product. I wrote a column about it and it really helped
21:41
give these people some traction. And so I, I, I, I, they've developed some new products. I mean
21:50
they're constantly developing new products. And at the time there was only like one color
21:55
Now there's all kinds of colors. It's, it's really amazing what they've done with the product line
22:00
So if you go to wall, I'll put it in right here. And then William, I'll get to your question here
22:04
in just a second. Let's see here. Let's see. There we go
22:16
So go there. Take a look at their stuff. I'm telling you what
22:20
It's flipping amazing stuff. It is such amazing stuff. All right Here we go So I get caught up Lorraine um it is not about the picture but the sound we had a lennox furnace and ac units on the last july the ac makes this high
22:39
pitch sound from all the vents and it making me crazy um well the blower squirrel cage fan might
22:48
be set on too high a speed. That would be the first, that's because that's what happens when
22:56
you whistle. So think about whistling. What's happening is you're restricting the place where
23:05
the air comes through and the air is coming through really fast. That's what causes whistling
23:10
you know that vibration and so i would lorraine i would look to see um
23:19
if in the owner's manual if you have it and it's not if it's not written in greek
23:24
uh see about getting that that fan speed down a little bit hopefully that's adjustable you know
23:32
you may have to call the guy the trouble is i just don't trust people anymore i've become so cynical
23:38
that I hate to say this. It's like if you call the, because I watch a video here, I'll give you
23:44
an example why. I was watching, I changed the oil on my truck yesterday. And the reason why
23:52
is with the cost of gasoline, first of all, it's for me to go to the place I used to take it to
23:58
it's 50 miles we're on trip. All right. 50 miles. And I invest minimum two hours doing it
24:04
like two and a half hours, you know, because I do it while you wait. All right. So I just thought
24:11
what the hell spells? I mean, years ago, I used to change my oil all the time. It's a little messy
24:17
I didn't have to make a special trip to get the oil. I was already in town. It only cost me $20 for the oil and a filter. Anyway, so I changed the oil. Well, a few years
24:30
back, I was just underneath my truck one day inspecting it. And I noticed that all of the
24:36
ball joints, they're all factory sealed. But I look on my four wheel drive where the half shafts
24:43
come into the wheels, there's a flipping grease nipple. Like what? And so I had no idea whether
24:49
or not the dealership was greasing these things. And I have my own grease gun, so I got out the
24:58
grease gun. I know how to do it. I greased them. And luckily grease came out. So that's a good
25:02
thing. If, if, if those joints go dry and you squeeze the grease gun, nothing comes out. You're
25:07
it's over. It's horrible. And I can only imagine what it costs to fix a half shaft. Um
25:14
I go online to YouTube. I know all my stories take forever. Don't they? I know they're horrible
25:22
I'm sorry. I talk too much. The, um, so I go on YouTube. So, so I know this sounds crazy
25:31
It had been a while and I'm underneath my truck trying to find these flipping grease nipples
25:35
Like where the hell are these nipples at there? They've disappeared. Well, what happens is
25:41
is when you have the truck and four wheel drive, the nipples will rotate with the shafts. But once
25:48
you take it out of four-wheel drive, the shaft stops. So the shaft can be up or it can be up
25:53
It can kind of be out of position. So anyway, I went onto YouTube yesterday. First video I go to
26:01
nice guy, nice young guy, talks about here's where they are, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I go
26:07
oh, right, right, right. So I had to put it into four-wheel drive and move it on the driver a
26:12
little bit until they aligned, until I could see them. But in the comments in the video
26:17
And even the guy who made the video, here's the payoff. All these people were commenting how, oh, no, I took it to the Ford dealer and they said there's no nipples on the thing that I don't know what I'm talking about
26:31
Everything's factory sealed. So that's what the service manager was telling these customers
26:38
I mean, were they doing it on purpose because they want your half shafts to go bad? Who knows
26:42
Who knows? The point I'm trying to make is, even Lorraine, for you, for you, you might go here onto YouTube
26:50
and type in high-pitched vent noise, just something, you know, the search phrase
26:58
to see if other people have made videos about the exact same problem you have
27:02
what they did to solve it. And I mean, I already know it's too much air going through the
27:07
it's too much air going too fast through the vents. That's what the problem is
27:11
That's why compressed air. In other words, think about that. Have you ever hit like a little compressed air thing
27:16
And here's what it sounds like when you hit it. Okay, what's causing that
27:21
What's causing that noise? But listen to this. So I'm just blowing on the microphone like I used to blow on Kathy's neck when we were dating
27:34
All right. So when you put too much air through an opening, it starts to make noise
27:40
All right. long story, who would ever think that the registers, AC registers, would have anything
27:48
to do with four-wheel drive half-shafts? No, only on Ask the Builder. I am so unhappy with the Linux units. Well, unfortunately
27:58
you know, you didn't know me back then. And so if you would have known me, I probably would
28:08
told you not to get Linux. So from now on, Laureen, don't buy anything else until you talk to me
28:16
All right. Don't just let's make that deal. All right. William, a friend is wanting to help
28:21
him replace some soffit and fascia boards on an older house. Some of the soffit and fascia
28:28
is completely rotten missing. How hard is that to do? Well, I think the hardest part of the whole job
28:35
is getting up to work on it. I don't know how you're going to do it
28:40
I don't know if you're going to use pipe scaffolding or what you're going to do. It's not that hard
28:47
It's just, I would say the skill level of the carpenter doing that work would be
28:54
I don't know, on a scale of one to 10, a three, three and a half
29:01
you know there's there's a lot of things you need to know um i mean you know i do phone coaching
29:08
uh probably your friend the best money he could invest in the job the best money especially with
29:15
as costly as materials are would be for him to arrange a 15 minute phone call with me send me
29:21
some photos of uh of the job of what's going on and then i can share with you and him the easiest
29:28
way to do it so that you save a lot of time. But some people go, no, no, no, that's stupid
29:35
I'm not going to pay that guy. I'll go find out how to do it online for free. Well, you may
29:39
You may find out how to do it wrong. All right. Let's see here. The furniture repairman said he
29:48
could set the fan lower but when then if i hit here's the deal he well i know he i don't know what
30:00
it's not going to affect how the air is distributed to the house
30:03
The air is going to come down that trunk line the same way, just a little slower
30:08
It's just going to get into the rooms the same way. You absolutely want to adjust that motor down a little bit
30:16
and see what happens. And all that's going to happen, Lorene, is that in really hot weather
30:23
your air conditioning may run a little longer to satisfy the thermostat
30:28
But that's a good thing because in the summertime, you want your air conditioner to run at least 20 minutes out of an hour
30:37
So it dehumidifies the air. Otherwise, if it short cycles, you get this really cold, clammy air in the house
30:44
It's horrible. Exactly right, Glory. You cannot let the flipping tie rods dry out
30:52
I mean, like I said, on my truck, all of the tie rods, all these other things are all factory sealed
30:58
But there's two flipping nipples on the half shafts, you know, where the half shafts connect to the actual wheels, you know, out at the ends, you know, where the tires are
31:09
But I like I said, I had I had forgotten that those half shafts, once I turned the four wheel drive off two months ago for the last time it snowed, the nipples might have been oriented up where I couldn't see them
31:21
So I had to put it in four wheel drive to get that to rotate down, you know, like three o'clock, six o'clock, three o'clock, nine o'clock, four o'clock, whatever, seven o'clock
31:31
So I can see the damn things. OK, it just I charge fifty dollars for 15 minutes, William
31:38
It's the best deal around. I mean, I I've saved people literally hundreds of thousands of dollars
31:44
So and you can buy it in 15 minute increments of time
31:48
So maybe, for example, I talked about this on past live streams
31:53
Last spring, Zoe, a young woman from New Mexico, she did, I had to draw her plumbing isometric drawing, but I also did, I think, three phone consults on three different days or might have been two days
32:11
But I helped her put in, think about this. I'm in New Hampshire
32:15
She's in New Mexico. she had never done plumbing before never and i'm talking about putting the pipes underneath the
32:22
slab all the building drain stuff i walked her right through it on the phone and and and um
32:28
drew some quick pictures showed texted him to her she got it smart smart smart young woman
32:33
and she passed the inspection with flying colors in fact the inspector said in his 30 years of
32:39
doing inspecting it was the best diy job he had ever seen he could not believe he could not believe
32:44
Zoe did it. So, all right. The old unit, which was over 15,000, did not make noise
32:54
Right. Everyone owning. Oh, that's crazy. I just can't. Anyway. Anyway
33:07
Yes. Yes. You have to ask me next time. And I just believe, you know, I forget the city you live in
33:13
Don't type it out. We don't need it. But I just can't believe somebody around you did not have carrier
33:20
I just can't believe that. Oh, well, it is what it is
33:25
But the good news is the whistling is going to go away. You're going to turn that fan speed down a little bit
33:30
It's going to go away. Air is still going to get into all the rooms. You're going to be comfortable this summer
33:35
Everything's going to be fine. If you have any questions about your home, please type it in the chat
33:40
Happy to help you. That's why I'm here. we already talked about the keen shoes and talked about a bunch of things uh who would ever think
33:48
that we'd be talking about half shafts on a four-wheel drive um let's get to the point here
33:55
where i uh i do all my own undercoating um i save my motor oil and i mix it with diesel fuel a lot
34:02
of people up here in the northeast do that and spray the underside of my truck twice a year it's
34:07
now time to spray it um for summertime and then i spread in october uh you know before winter
34:14
and does a really great job actually a lot of people do that
34:19
if you have any questions about your home roof tile um asphalt ceiling asphalt um
34:28
deck deck construction concrete installation um you name it i will i will answer your questions
34:38
oh yeah i'll bet it's put you behind schedule geez man i hope you told him what i said
34:46
no more flipping cage fighting he's not it just doesn't pay i mean
34:52
just you know i say that every time like every time this is really an interesting
35:02
now that what i'm going to tell you shouldn't surprise you at all
35:07
if kathy was here she would just be shaking her head so i like talking to people so so you i like doing the live streams because i know i'm talking to
35:20
you. I know you can't talk back to me, but you can chat with me. I mean, I actually have a game
35:27
I haven't done it in a while because I'm out here in rural New Hampshire. But if I go to a big city
35:33
and I'm on an elevator, I love talking to people on elevators. Strangers. It's such a neat experiment
35:40
Oh my gosh, talking to people on elevators. And Kathy, if she's with me, as soon as the person
35:46
gets off, she always, she looks at me and glares at me like, why, why, what is wrong with you
35:50
She says, what is wrong with you? Why would you do that? Why would you talk to that stranger
35:59
All right. So I'm the head, yeah, my Kathy and I are the head ushers at our church on Sunday
36:07
And, uh, so when somebody comes, I mean, I know just about everybody, I don't know everybody's
36:13
name. I'm trying to get everybody's name. Some people would never want to give it to you. You
36:16
can just tell their body language. But if somebody comes in and they've got a cast on or they've hurt
36:22
themselves, they're limping. I always say the same line. I go, you know, and if their husband or wife's
36:28
with an air shot, I go, you got to stop cage fighting on the weekends. Stop it. And then I
36:35
give that pregnant pause and then I go, the other person is still in the hospital, aren't they
36:39
i guess you had to be there it's it's funny at the time but some people don't laugh
36:45
some people don't get it they don't there's there's a big wide range of uh of sense of
36:52
humor is out there let me tell you elaine wants to know what do you think of a product such as perm aligner to reline
37:02
50 year old cast iron sewer pipe in a slab. Well, I've never used it
37:11
And I am. I always wonder. You know, here's how I always look at those things, Elaine
37:24
I always wonder about the thickness In other words how thick could this coating be
37:35
I mean, I'm serious. And then how do we know it's getting coated where it needs to be coated
37:43
I know they'll say, well, we can put a camera down later, blah, blah, blah. um i um
37:50
i you know so i i'm just very skeptical of them i just
37:57
i don't i just don't see i mean it's got to be thin enough that you can um
38:03
uh it's got to be thin enough that it can come through some type of spray nozzle um it has to
38:11
So that means it's being put on really thin, like how many mils, like two mils, three mils, four mils
38:18
I don't know, five mils? And then it's really wet inside there
38:24
You know, the humidity level inside that cast iron drain, building drain is 100%
38:29
I don't know. I just, I don't know. I'm not, I'm a master plumber
38:40
I've never had it done. All right. So I don't know. And just so you know, that's that question
38:52
If you read a lot of my work, I've been writing now for 20. It's almost hard to believe. 29 years
39:00
there's got to be 50 columns on on my website where i tell you i would never um i would i would
39:11
never build a house on a slab now that said in cincinnati where i grew up all of our building
39:18
drains were down in the basement underneath concrete um if if i the to me the most ideal
39:25
situation is what we just did in my daughter's new home in Bar Harbor. So she built on a crawl
39:31
space, beautiful, dry, wonderful, got a concrete floor in it, the concrete floor slopes. So if there
39:37
is a leak, the water goes down to a drain. The distance from the underside of the floor joists
39:43
to the concrete is like four feet. So you can't walk in it, but you're also not crawling on your
39:50
belly. Well lit, dry, warm. Guess what? You can see all of the pipes. There are no pipes buried
39:59
under the concrete. So if there's something goes wrong with the plumbing, it's right there. It's
40:05
all visible. So I'm a big fan of that. I mean, all these slab homes, you couldn't give me one
40:11
You could not, I would never live or never build in a slab home. But not happening
40:15
um all right lorraine his boot is a beacon for meeting new people everywhere exactly it is
40:23
and that should be his line he should go they you know i already know what happens here's what it is
40:29
everybody says well what happened how did you break your ankle are you kidding me if i was
40:34
given that opening i would go you don't know who i am i i do cage fighting every weekend down at the
40:44
octagon downtown the other guy is in the freaking hospital still he's in the icu unit
40:51
you could have so much fun with that oh my gosh look who's here jennifer
41:01
um what are your thoughts on infrared water filtration you're not going to believe this um i've been a master plumber since 1981 and i've never heard of
41:16
it i don't mean to laugh but i mean i'm just like what so infrared is is heat all right so that
41:22
obviously it's heat and uh filtration i don't i can't even comprehend how hot water how introducing
41:32
heat to the water is going to filter it. I just don't, I don't see how it's going to happen
41:37
Uh, don't, I don't, I don't understand. Maybe it was UV, uh, probably was ultraviolet. Um
41:44
ultraviolet is pretty, um, ultraviolet is, uh, um, is really good. I mean, I, I've
41:52
I've written about it a lot just recently. Um, 5%, I don't know about artificial UV it's created
41:59
but 5% of the UV rays that come from the sun have active photons
42:04
And so active photons are so powerful. They will, they will break apart, um, you know, bad things
42:12
I mean, they, they can break atomic bonds like copper. I mean, a photon hitting a solid piece of copper on a roof will actually explode the
42:21
copper off, you know, the copper. I mean, it's like, it's like a little miniature bomb hitting the copper
42:26
and then that loose copper washes down the roof. That's what keeps the roof clean
42:33
So UV, I'd have to get a bunch of data and test samples
42:42
And then Jennifer, I talked about this just a few minutes ago
42:48
I've become so flipping cynical of everything. I mean, it's horrible. It's horrible
42:55
I mean, it's really easy to get depressed. I would have to, I would have to be, I would want
43:04
to be talking. I don't even know if you have any, if you, I know you live near, I know where you live
43:12
And I think there, I know there's a big university near you. Isn't that right? Isn't that right? You
43:19
have a big, I don't want to say where it is. It's nobody's business, but they've got a great
43:27
basketball team. Yes. Okay. All right. I would go, I'll bet you, yes, good. All right. I'll bet
43:34
you that they have, all of them or several have really great biology programs. All right. So I
43:41
would want to go talk to, and you've got an in because of your line of work. All right. You've
43:47
you've got a foot in the door. And I would want to talk to a few university professors
43:55
who deal with bacteria, viruses, things like this, and they'll be able to tell you. See
44:03
that's the cool thing. They've got their finger on the pulse and they'll be able to say, oh yeah
44:08
it works or, oh no, it doesn't. Or here's where you have to go to get some really good white
44:13
papers on the topic. So, so in other words, you don't want to go always to the companies that sell
44:19
stuff because they've, they've got a dog in the fight. They just want to sell you their system. And they may only be telling you half truths. And as we all know, a half truth is a whole lie
44:28
So start at the university, see what they say and come back with a full report. Let us know what the
44:32
professor is saying. It is what it is though, Elaine. I know, I know you got a slab. I don't
44:41
know i just don't i would want to elaine i'm telling you right now what i would do
44:45
i would research that to death i i would be typing in whatever that name of that product was um
44:52
permaliner i think you said i would be typing into google like permaliner nightmare stories permaliner headaches permaliner disaster I would do the same thing on YouTube
45:06
I don't want to hear anything positive. In other words, I'm just going the other direction
45:10
I want to hear all of the failures of the product. So I would do all kinds of research about nightmares about the product and see what comes up
45:21
See if you can find a bunch of stories. Don't do what my dad did in ER
45:26
He went telling everyone he gave mom a black eye for talking back
45:31
Oh, no, no. That would be a bad, bad, bad, bad. Don't do that
45:35
Actually, I have a, I got a story that's to show you how, well, I actually can see why
45:42
this would be the case. when my son was in high school, which would have been
45:53
I don't know, 16 years ago, for an English class, he had to write an assignment
46:02
I think the assignment was something like, like the scariest thing that ever happened to you. All right. So
46:11
when he was maybe three or four years old um that's when that the raiders of the lost art
46:20
movies with harrison ford were coming out and i think the second movie or the third one in the
46:27
series was the one was the i i forget the name of the uh the one but it was the one
46:34
where they it was like kind of based in india and there were these stones that would glow
46:41
and there was this really evil like witch doctor who who um you know he he reached into the guy
46:48
he'd like had mystic witch power and he he could actually rip into a live person's chest and pull
46:54
their heart out all right and he said kalima kalima kalima you know shakti day right so i
47:01
already knew the movie and and was happening and and actually and kathy was out in the kitchen and um
47:07
it's really not funny although at the time it was but Kathy was so angry
47:15
so it's coming up to that part in the movie and Tristan is watching his eyes are like really big
47:22
like what is going on and actually I told Kathy later like what how come you let him watch this
47:28
movie man it's pretty scary for a little kid you know so we get to that part in the movie and I'm
47:34
kind of behind him. And then when it gets right to that part and he's putting, I reach around and
47:38
put my hand on my son's chest and I thought he was going to die. I mean, Kathy got so angry at me
47:45
He was so frightened. He actually thought I was going to pull his heart out of his. So he wrote
47:50
about this. Kathy gets a phone call from the school. They were going to send the police out
47:59
They thought I was abusing him. I mean, it was, she had to talk him out of it. You know, it was
48:04
But anyway, but to your story, like, you know, I mean, in hindsight, I wish I wouldn't have done it, number one
48:16
And number two, Tristan should not have been writing about it. All right. That's nice to know information, not need to know
48:23
All right. All right. Here we go. Does PVC hold up in plumbing
48:28
um yeah pvc is uh yeah it wasn't funny at the time i was in the flipping doghouse man oh my god
48:38
oh can't you know because she's not here all right she doesn't watch these things
48:44
i don't know if you're a parent and you have multiple kids
48:49
you're not supposed to have favorites all right well anybody who says they don't they're liars
48:58
Liars. Well, guess who's, guess who's Kathy's favorite? All right. Anyway
49:14
Mocha. No mocha ice cream for a month. um so anyway pvc jennifer pvc is a great piping material um it used to only come one weight like
49:30
heavyweight probably 20 years ago or so they introduced uh cellular like a foam core lighter
49:37
weight um it's you can't use it for pressure purposes if i was doing something that where it
49:45
might be uh let's see in plumbing uh i would use the heavier weight i would use the original
49:50
pvc piping all right so and make sure it's schedule 40 all right that comes in different
49:56
thicknesses wall thicknesses and it actually comes heavier you can get it schedule 60 so
50:02
depends on what um uh depends on what you're you're trying to do but even just under normal use
50:09
schedule 40 regular pvc in a regular house uh i don't know it'll last 50 100 years maybe i mean i i can't see it wearing out
50:25
i just can't even imagine it um can't even imagine it it's good stuff biggest problem
50:32
with it in homes is it's noisy um if you have it as a stack in a wall and someone upstairs flushes
50:39
a toilet, you can hear the water crashing in the pipe. That's why we use cast iron in my daughter's
50:45
home. So anyway, good stuff. I just don't like it because of the noise issue. But you only
50:54
you know, you don't have to put cast iron everywhere. I just put, if I was plumbing a
50:58
house for somebody right now, a customer, and it was a two-story home, I would try to convince them
51:02
look, we got to use cast iron for the vertical stack, and we need to run that arm, a branch arm
51:08
over to the toilet, all right? And maybe even to the shower
51:14
But all the other piping can be plastic. And they make adapters
51:19
So it's not a problem. It's going to be fine. But you don't need to put cast iron in
51:23
for all the vent pipes and all that. That's just a waste
51:27
And then your system is going to be quiet as can be. If you have any questions about your home
51:34
just type them in the chat. I'm here. That's why I do the live streams
51:38
I do it to save you time and money. I'll answer any question, any question that I can
51:46
I'll share this. Jennifer's here and she sent me a very nice email
51:54
And Jennifer, what I'm really proud of, Jennifer, I've never met her before
52:02
I talked a week or two ago about the Influence book. So by God, Jennifer got the book
52:08
started reading it and then she started putting into play some of the things that she read and
52:14
got incredible results so um be like jennifer if you if you're running a business and you've got a
52:22
newsletter you should be reading the influence book is all i can tell you you should be reading the influence book It really really powerful stuff And it also going to help you with what going on For example if I had not read the influence book I read it like 15 years ago
52:40
But if I had not read it with what's happened here in the US over the past two years, two
52:48
and a half years, I might have been one like, OK, whatever you say
52:54
but because i understood all the psychology that was going on it was like are you kidding me i was
53:03
like it was the biggest psyops probably ever done in the history of the world
53:10
and vanessa probably knows all about psyops there's people on this stream that are if you've
53:17
had anything any kind of significant military training you know all about psyops man uh yes
53:24
the tomatoes are alive um they i saved him from the brink of death um there i've got him outside
53:31
now though i've got him outside in bigger pots um out in the sun i had to bring him in last night
53:38
because i look on my phone and all of a sudden there's this frost uh advisory so but i never
53:44
got down that low here so i think i think they're okay from here on out i don't think we're going
53:49
have a problem. Although maybe six, seven years ago on Memorial Day, I've got a photograph of it
53:56
out on my driveway. On Memorial Day, there was sleet on the hood of my truck
54:02
May 31st, flipping sleeting in central New Hampshire. Are you kidding me? So the tomatoes
54:07
are alive. So I think they're growing. I almost killed them. I almost did. I just, I overfed them
54:14
but they're putting out new leaves. I still think they got a long way to go. So I bought
54:22
three other ones. I bought three other different plants. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to transplant
54:26
those into big pots. But those look really, really healthy. And they're three different
54:33
varieties. So I'm trying out some different things, but it's all container. I've got them
54:37
all in clean five gallon buckets. So we'll see what happens. I'll take some photos and share them
54:44
All right. Jennifer wants to know how are manufactured home walls made? I heard they are better
54:51
Yes, they're they're made in a factory. There's all kinds of great videos online
54:56
Jennifer, you can see how it's done. They've got these big jigs. They're made in a factory
55:02
I actually have some of the videos on my website. Like if you go to if you go to my website and you type in
55:09
I don't know. Prefab walls. I think that's what it is. Prefab
55:16
Let me actually do it for you. Let me see if I can bring it up. Pre or pan
55:27
All panels. I think this is the column. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think in this column
55:38
I've got the column. I'm almost sure I put another two videos I saw online that really show you how they're made in a factory
55:48
Hold on a second. I'm going to slide down. There's at least some there's at least in this video here, there is some B-roll, some cutaway shots of how it's done
56:00
But there are other videos on YouTube. If you go look at some of these other videos like this, that you can actually see how they do it
56:08
Bottom line, they're better than probably 80% of the walls built in the field, stick built, because the precision is remarkable
56:22
I would say that the tolerance for air is within a sixteenth of an inch, which is fantastic for rough construction
56:31
They're built stronger, they're built better, and they have to survive the move
56:37
So here's the thing. In other words, you can go and buy just the wall panels where they just build the walls and they stack them on top of one another. And then they're put on a flatbed truck and the wall panels are brought to the job site. And then the carpenters tilt them up and slide them into position
56:53
But if you buy a modular home, so a modular home is where they actually build the house just like Lego blocks
57:00
They build these cubes or rectangles in a factory. And they do everything
57:08
They wire them, plumbing, put the drywall, they paint them, they do everything
57:12
They can even put the cabinets in and put dishes in the cabinets
57:16
And the dishes will survive the move. All right. I know it sounds crazy. It's true
57:20
Seen it done. I've seen it done. And then they just bring those and they crane them into place and connect them all together
57:27
And those are built better than than just about 95 percent of all the houses you could ever have built stick built because they have to survive the move
57:38
So it's really, really good stuff. With more insulation made them with this thus with this thus
57:50
yes so um they're good so wall panels were good my daughter's whole house was all panelized my
57:59
my daughter's entire house was built in a factory and it and the and the pieces came and the
58:05
carpenters just assembled all the pieces uh perfectly square uh it is stronger that my only
58:13
complaint was I felt that they overbuilt the, uh, the openings around all the doors and windows
58:21
that they had too much lumber there. It was way overbuilt. For example, like the headers
58:28
that above all my daughter's windows, they put triple two by material. That's crazy, stupid
58:36
They could have just done two and they could have put in two and a half inches of solid, uh, you
58:42
know, closed cell foam insulation. But I didn't catch that on the plan and I, you know, it wasn't
58:47
really wasn't my responsibility. So if you're going to do that, I'm just telling you, if you're
58:53
doing two by six exterior walls, really pay attention to how they're going to frame all
58:58
the openings because they don't have to be like they do it. How do I get to the Tim's tips? I
59:07
I might have a link right here. You don't have to do anything
59:11
You don't have to do anything. I do have a link. You've already done enough
59:21
If anybody else likes the information I'm giving you and you want to buy me a mocha chip ice cream cone, go ahead and do it
59:26
But Jennifer does not have to. All right. So what other questions do you have
59:34
Jack had a good one. Are the tomatoes still alive? yeah i would just actually i just watered them about an hour and a half ago um i've got them on
59:42
the blacktop driveway so they're getting a lot of sun the blacktop gets hot keeps them hot which
59:48
is good tomatoes like that uh but boy i almost killed those bad boys they were doing so well
59:54
that first six weeks and then i i overfed them and uh i got an ant on top of this
59:59
Microphone. What the heck are you doing there? All right. So you probably saw that around the back
1:00:07
All right. If you have any questions, ask them, ask away. Happy to answer them. Tomorrow
1:00:14
I've got my golf league. Today, Will is out on the golf course now. On Wednesdays, he's a ranger
1:00:22
and he's kind of there as a helper for the golf league. I talked to him on the phone earlier today
1:00:30
Tomorrow, the person I'm supposed to play is still in Florida. So I basically just play his card is what it's called
1:00:40
In other words, his card gets pre-filled out with his score. So in other words, it's par plus his handicap
1:00:47
And as long as I beat him in five holes, then I win the match
1:00:54
So I'm going to do a completely different thing tomorrow. I talked to Will about it
1:00:59
you know, the actual term is called course management. And I have this horrible habit
1:01:07
like after I drive and I'm out on the fairway, I keep thinking like on a par four hole, like
1:01:12
well, heck, if the pros can make the flipping green, so can I. No, you know, so I get the
1:01:18
three wood out and all kinds of problems. So tomorrow it's like, no, no, no, no, no
1:01:24
we're just going to get the five iron out or the six iron and we're just going to take two shots
1:01:31
to get to the flipping green okay because think about this like a par four hole here i'll actually
1:01:38
show you so here's the scorecard you know for what i'm playing tomorrow so let's say that we're
1:01:46
playing the front nine tomorrow so here is and i play the white tees so here is a whole number
1:01:54
hole number, I don't know, hole number four. It's 350 yards, all right? 350 from the whites. So
1:02:09
if you just hit it 180 yards with your driver, which is pretty easy to do. If you don't
1:02:17
you don't have to smash it. Just hit it 180 yards. You've only got 170 to go, all right
1:02:22
170 so get it get out your eight iron that for me that goes 120 yards or get you know just get
1:02:31
out an iron like a six iron and then boom boom and you're on the green and three and if you have
1:02:38
a really great third shot you might one putt if stranger things have happened so that's what I'm
1:02:43
trying tomorrow we'll see how I do because whenever I use my three wood sometimes I'll just duff the
1:02:49
ball and it's like a wasted shot. So, and then if I hit it too hard, because that's the trouble
1:02:54
in other words, I'm trying, I'm putting everything behind it. They just go astray. It's crazy
1:02:59
All right. So we'll see what happens tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun. Any other questions about your home? Anything that you've got about your home? I'm happy to
1:03:11
we got a lot of good questions today. Jennifer, they asked so many questions. Oh, and I didn't
1:03:16
say about those those that photo you sent if those are the places where the dogs stay you could
1:03:23
be renting those things out for airbnbs man are you kidding me those we hit we have tons of places
1:03:29
around new hampshire here where where people own things just like that that close to one another
1:03:35
these little summer cottages and they rent them out by the week don't forget to do those pre-golf
1:03:42
game stretches. I never do them, but I probably should do them. But I don't have any
1:03:45
back issues or whatever. With me working on this garage, I'll be pretty limber by
1:03:52
tomorrow afternoon, moving stuff around. Here's something that's kind of funny. Oh, I can show it to you
1:04:05
So, my I am. My oldest daughter. My oldest daughter She was a pretty good artist and um i going through boxes as i declaring the garage you know finding stuff and i found this thing she did as a kid um and
1:04:30
i'm gonna and i don't know she might have been eight or nine years old
1:04:37
and i want you and so i saved it and i found it in this box i've not seen this for like 20 years
1:04:42
so it says i am crabby don't bother me and look at the lobster that she drew you know
1:04:52
and it's and out of its mouth you probably can't see it but it's saying um
1:04:57
it's saying baa b-a-a-a so i took this photo and i texted it to her i didn't even say anything in
1:05:07
the photo i just texted her so i i've not heard back from her yet so we'll see what happens
1:05:11
so I'm gonna send it to her give it to her I don't know
1:05:15
yeah exactly I'm telling you those things look amazing those buildings oh my gosh
1:05:24
yeah I've got a bunch of stuff of the kids bunch of stuff
1:05:30
I used to play her in ping pong and Kathy would get so
1:05:37
angry at me you know because I would I mean I wouldn't
1:05:41
Kathy would say that I always wanted to win. And that's not always true, but my, my oldest daughter
1:05:50
was getting pretty good, you know, so I would put a little spin on the balls. And one day she got
1:05:55
really aggravated at me. She got so angry, you know, cause I, you know, and I guess she lost
1:06:00
the game and she stormed away and I felt bad, but then she took a piece of this redwood and
1:06:05
And she put on it, you cheat. And with this really kind of angry face, like sticking its tongue out at me
1:06:13
She was angry at me. And I have that somewhere. I saved that
1:06:18
So I think it's right behind this door here. If I find that one day, I'll show it on the live stream
1:06:23
It's hilarious. So she was very animated that way, drawing stuff. So we'll see what she says about this drawing
1:06:31
But next time I go to Bar Harbor, I'll take it to her. uh exactly um yeah and i would um yeah if i had it all to do again i would not have
1:06:42
played like i did but i was at the time what i was trying to do is i just was trying to play
1:06:49
a little harder to play to make her a better player but that's a really fine line it's a
1:06:55
really fine line and um and and as i always told my kids um when they would get upset at me
1:07:03
is I would say, look, you did not come with the flipping owner's manual. All right. Sorry
1:07:11
Right. And, um, uh, they, I don't know that they got it then, but I think they get it now
1:07:16
I think especially she does with our grandchild. Oh, the bread. I did not do the bread today. I got
1:07:22
so deeply involved in cleaning this garage. I didn't do it. Um, so I gotta, I gotta work on
1:07:29
that. I did not do the bread. I'll do the bread next week. All right. Any other questions about
1:07:35
your house? If not, I think I'll get out of here. Here we go. Jennifer, how can you tell
1:07:42
a tree would come down on your house in a storm? Oh, you can't
1:07:49
You can't. I mean, how can I say this? I mean, I'm not a tree expert, but I've been around enough to see trees fall that I never
1:08:03
thought they would fall. You don't know what really comes into play is, and this is, I have
1:08:10
no, I'm not an expert. I'm not an arborist, is how strong is the root system? Because I marvel
1:08:18
I mean, the trees here around my house, many of them are 100, 120 feet tall. They're huge
1:08:23
And we get these big nor'easters and I see these trees like this
1:08:28
And I just think how much first of all there some elasticity in the tree which is good You know they bending a little bit like that I exaggerating it So the base of the trunk is not moving that much
1:08:43
But the roots is the only thing that's holding them in, all right
1:08:48
So if the roots, if the tree has got some health issues and the roots are not in good shape, down it comes, all right
1:08:58
So I, I see trees, you know, down all the time. I mean, the only
1:09:04
Jennifer, the only thing I think I would do is you, there's a really good chance your tax dollars pay for a county extension agent
1:09:14
that, you know, that there, there are these people that in the agriculture department, they, there
1:09:20
you might have an arborist, you might have a county arborist and that he'll come out for free and talk to
1:09:27
and evaluate and tell you what's going on. So that's the first thing I would do. See if you
1:09:32
if this county has got a, or the state has got some expert that will come out and talk to you
1:09:39
about the trees. That's what I would do. Yeah. Elaine's got it. Exactly. Elaine, Elaine said
1:09:46
what I said. So there we go. That's so Elaine's, Elaine's smarter than I am. Elaine, you should be
1:09:52
doing the flipping live stream uh uh county forester yeah it could be different in each
1:10:05
state uh but but elaine's on the thing in other words just go your county should have
1:10:10
you know or this like like elaine said this there could be a state forestry association
1:10:16
or department blah blah blah you know like here in new hampshire we have one i know
1:10:21
and just like I told you two weeks ago or a week ago, we had the moose on the front porch
1:10:26
So I call up the fish and game and they were out in 90 minutes, all right
1:10:31
So I'm not saying that the tree people are going to be out that fast to your house, but it's their job
1:10:37
That's what they do. So have them come out. I know, I know
1:10:46
I know, that's okay. and when I finally get to meet you don't worry about that by the way all right don't worry about
1:10:54
it everything's gonna be fine ah the moose I haven't seen it I hope it made it and right now it's got plenty the leaves are out
1:11:06
uh spring comes on fast here in New Hampshire once it decides it's time things grow like crazy
1:11:14
I mean, it's crazy. So that moose has got plenty of food right now. So I hope it's still alive
1:11:21
All right. Any other questions? Otherwise, I'm going to get out of here
1:11:28
That's OK. That's OK. I don't it's not going to bother me. You know
1:11:34
We'll just calm down. We'll just wait. You know, I'll just hug you for longer
1:11:39
See, the longer I hug you, then you'll probably calm down. All right
1:11:43
That's what I'll do. Just hug you for a while. All right
1:11:49
Okay. I'm going to get out of here. Yep. Not much left of our day
1:11:55
You've got a lot. You've got, you've got a lot of day, day left out there on the West Coast
1:12:00
Make some bread this weekend. Yes. I'm going to talk to Kathy about it tonight. Get that machine out
1:12:04
I'm sure she'll say fine. What, you know. And yeah, this weekend
1:12:09
Um, I don't have much going on this weekend. I've got this, like I said, the big thing is over the next two days to try to get this
1:12:15
garage, the lower garage done, completely decluttered. Then I can start bringing stuff on the other side of this door right here
1:12:23
This door get, then start moving stuff downstairs. I can't take anything out of here
1:12:28
There's no place to go with it. Um, I don't know who Cindy is
1:12:36
All right. That's why I thought the other day when I said happy Mother's Day. That's what threw me off
1:12:41
I just, I don't know who Cindy is. So you don't need to say it right here
1:12:46
All right. Don't, don't need to do that. That's nice to know information, not need to know
1:12:52
Okay So yes bread bread whole wheat bread whole wheat bread That what I want to do Okay I out of here Thanks for being here today Thanks for all the great questions
1:13:01
Uh, they were wonderful. Really a lot of good questions. And I wish I had more information
1:13:05
about that permaliner, but Elaine, I want you to do that research. Like I said, type in permaliner
1:13:12
nightmares, permaliner defects, permaliner headaches, you know, all those other nouns that, you know, permaliner problems, whatever. And just try to dig deep to find out the nightmare
1:13:28
stories from people. And that's what I would do. And then you could also do this as a last ditch
1:13:35
effort. Elaine, you could, you could, there is a, I think it's based in California. You could
1:13:46
contact the cast iron. There's like a cast iron piping association. I would reach out to them
1:13:53
You might even go to Charlotte pipe. So that's Charlotte. They're right in your
1:13:57
right in your backyard. You know, they, they probably make more cast iron pipe than anybody
1:14:02
in the nation uh see if see if charlotte pipe um has got some information about how to restore
1:14:10
what they consider to be the best system all right they're the experts at it so
1:14:14
that that's how i would do it the last person i would be talking to would be the permaliner
1:14:18
salesman i can tell you that right now all right um yes charlotte pipe all right so they're the
1:14:27
best and to jennifer charlotte pipe they make the best pvc they make spun cast uh cast iron now uh
1:14:35
it's fantastic stuff there's all kinds of great videos online you can watch videos on youtube about
1:14:39
how they make cast iron pipe now the spin casting it's amazing the pipe thickness i mean i got a
1:14:45
piece of it right here i don't want to take it all apart but i have a piece of cast iron that i use
1:14:49
um as a it i cut it at my daughter's house i use it for a pen holder i should probably sell them
1:14:57
but it would cost a damn much to ship it to you. My God, that probably cost 10 bucks postage
1:15:02
to get it to you. Crazy. You know what it costs? You know, I was going to sell the golf balls, all right
1:15:08
I still try to do it. I think people will buy five of them. Big deal. $4
1:15:14
It only weighs the box. With the golf ball in it, it only weighs four ounces
1:15:20
Only weighs four ounces. $4. Okay, got to go. Thanks for being here. I'll be here Saturday morning, eight o'clock. We'll see what happens. I don't know how long I'll be on. I'm probably going to suspend the Saturday live streams because we're not getting a lot of people. And it makes sense why. I get it. But it was just an experiment. So this might be the last Saturday morning live stream
1:15:51
yeah four dollars four bucks send a four ounce box but that was the postage from new hampshire to you
1:16:02
you know we checked the postage for west coast because that's worst case scenario because the
1:16:07
post office finally got smart on on things over 13 ounces i think or whatever it is they they have
1:16:15
an adjustable rate not not so much so for a regular stamp for a regular letter but other things
1:16:21
it depends on how far it's going which is the way it should be so anyway uh try a small padded
1:16:27
envelope for the balls i don't know that that'll make a difference i don't i don't i don't think
1:16:31
it will um because all of a sudden as soon as the thick as soon as it's greater than a quarter of an
1:16:35
inch in thickness it goes crazy the rates um so i don't i don't think that'll work i've got these
1:16:41
perfect little boxes for it but anyway i only think five people are going to buy them anyway
1:16:46
It's just, you know, who wants a flipping logo golf ball after all
1:16:52
Come on. All right. Got to go. Thanks for being here. I'll be here Saturday morning, but I don't know how long I'll be on
1:16:59
Thanks for being here today. Great, great questions. I really appreciate it
1:17:03
I really do. And you made me laugh today. That's good. All right. Bye. I'm Tim Carter
