We're in the process of finishing off this room and one of the most exciting aspects of it is going
0:09
to be the ceiling. We're not going to use traditional drywall. Instead, the owners decided
0:14
to use wood and not just any wood, but the traditional beaded ceiling that's tongue and
0:19
groove. It's gorgeous and there's a couple of things you need to know to make sure the job
0:23
goes smoothly. One of the really neat things about beaded ceiling is that it has a tongue and a
0:29
groove. And why is that important? Well, it creates a look as you join the pieces together
0:34
For example, as you join the two pieces together, it recreates that groove or that bead that's in
0:39
the center of each individual board. In order to make the job go faster, we went ahead and
0:45
pre-stained and pre-urethained all the wood pieces on the ground because that keeps mess to a minimum
0:51
It's hard to do it, you know, with the stain falling down on your face. Let the material dry
0:55
and now it's ready to put up. The tongue and groove aspect allows you to blind nail the product
1:01
You can actually drive nails at an angle through the tongue and when you put the second piece over it
1:07
it completely disguises the nail and you don't see nails anywhere in your entire ceiling
1:16
As you can see, wood ceilings add a lot of flair and character to a room

I highly recommend you consider one for your next job. I'm Tim Carter, Ask the Builder
